Can birth control cause depression?

I have been on the pill for about 6 months now, I recently missed a pill mid-pack and had to start a new pack. Since them I have been feeling almost constantly depressed, I was wondering if switching packs and staying on the higher level hormone doses for longer is causing my mood issues?

I have been on the pill for about of six months right now. I recently missed pill mid packs and had to  start new packet. Because of them, I have felt most continuously depressed. I wonder whether the packet switch and fixed at a higher level for longer dose hormones that causes the problem my moods?
